| Well. The mouse has vanished. We do not know what happened. One of the traps was sprung. The other 3 empty--all week. Nothing. Does this mean that I don't have to bang on the cupboards anymore before I open them?
Other news: I just posted a bunch of stuff on E-deals. Check it out.
Other Other news: This summer has been amazing--slow enough to enjoy and lots of time for the beach and friends and porch sitting.

| Today at Schuller Books and Music, I kept looking for books that I would want to buy, if I had unlimited resources to do so. There is something about actually owning a book, as opposed to checking it out from the library. Now, don't get me wrong, I am a huge fan of the public library, which maybe is due in part because my mother is a librarian, currently practicing her mad librarian skills in England. (she also has a library card portfolio..every city she visits. she somehow manages to get a library card from the public library--even NYC) I also have very vivid memories of going to the Plymouth Library in rural Ohio (the first one was in an old house, it was sweet) and checking out so many books that they would be stacked up in my arms and cover my face when I was walking out to the car. I also remember spending entire days reading on this gigantic red pillow in my bedroom. I remember being excited at 16 when I got my license so I could go to the library on my own if I so desired! Anyway, today it sort of hit me that every time I am at the library or a book store, I find myself completely and contentedly lost in the world of books. What makes some kids and adults fall in love with books, while others can count on one hand the number of books they've read since finishing college? Growing up we weren't allowed to watch TV during the week, my mom read stacks of books to us before bed (many from the banned book lists--gasp), and I remember her distinctly saying to me as I was beginning to read, "Cicely, a whole new world will open up for you." Someday if I have small children, I hope to do the same. I am attempting to narrow down a list of about 5 that I will take to Bangladesh with me. I have received some great suggestions, and if any of you 4 faithful readers out there have other suggestions, chime on in. I think today I decided to take books I have never read, maybe like a Merton book, or Rowan Williams.... I am not quite motivated to get a jumpstart on Greek or Hebrew for when I return next year, especially since I will soon be learning BENGALI. Maybe that will help me in learning Greek.....I digress. I need to water the plants. Our sunporch has become a jungle.
